Department of Music:

Music department was established in Tarakeswar Degree College in the year 2006. At present, there are six teachers in the department, one full timer & five SACT teachers. Out of them one teacher is PhD holder and one is NET qualified. Music discipline, started in the college in 2006, was studied under general stream till 2013. Hons papers in Music were started in the year 2014. Classes are taken as per the syllabus & guidelines of the Burdwan University. Department is following CBCS system since December 2017. Both theory and practical classes are conducted as a part of regular course. Syllabus is for a period of three years. Categories of the students in Music discipline are General, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. Infrastructures are well developed to conduct the classes and all facilities are in good condition. One departmental Library is also a part of the department where all relevant books are available. Students usually use the facilities of the library. For conducting classes teachers follow lecture method, class test etc. On an average 90% of the students qualifies the college examinations. The department organizes many cultural events like celebration of Teachers Day, RabindraJayanti& different cultural competitions and takes part in College Social. In all the events students participate wholeheartedly. In many occasions students have also participated in the out-of-campus cultural programs and received awards.
